Original Creations Rich In Narrative

INTRODUCTION
Storytelling is one of the greatest ways to inspire or pass knowledge from one person to another. Music is another great way to express oneself through sound. By combining Music & Storytelling, we create a precious artwork that is appealing to the heart and soul while also taking the listener through a journey of feeling and emotion.

OCRIN (Original Creations Rich In Narrative) is a project by Zyneth Music to inspire music artists meaning & identity to their music. Music shouldn’t just be a combination of sounds that just sound good, but it should also bring value to the listener. Music should be impactful and memorable, while also being rich in narrative (storytelling) and culture (elements that are associated with a group of people belonging to a certain culture, time in history, place, country, tradition, etc.)

CHALLENGE
We're challenging our artists to make an Original Musical Work that is rich in Meaning, Narrative and Culture, follow a process of Researching, Forming an Intention, Creating an original composition, arranging, mixing, and finally, the mastered track. This to challenge their music creation skills, from the bare composition (notes, chords, rhythm, tempo, and time signature) to the final mixing stage. We're pushing them out of their comfort zones & to think of the song from the listener's perspective.

The challenge involves us giving the artists a story / poem written by our good friend: 'Joshua Le kay (@writtenbyjosh)' & for them to portray the story / poem through sound, thinking about how they can approach & manipulate the composition, instrumentation, the stereo field, frequency spectrum, and the overall mix to represent emotion, movement, atmosphere, setting, feeling and the overall experience as a journey of sound.

The Artists are required to film the entire production process, and upload it to our drives, from which we put together and create a "Behind The Music" video series. This series will take you through the thinking process of the artist and the journey of telling a story through sound. The is a crucial step in our mission to strengthen the value and significance of music in the age of technology.

We've provided the Artists with resources and learning material (mainly YouTube Channels) to help them through their music creation process.

OCRIN PRODUCTION PROCESS
This Project follows a contextual production process, inspired by the Architectural design process that architects use to design buildings that carry meaning.

1. The Story
   We challenged our Artists to create a story based on something they are passionate about or something they think the world should hear. The Intention is to take the listener through the Story, paying special attention to how we represent feeling, setting, emotion, atmosphere, place, weather, movement, standing still, space, etc.

2. Context
Context is elements that are related to a time in history, a culture, a tradition, a place, a people or music. 

3. Precedents.
Precedents are past projects that can act as an example.

4. Composition
The composition consists of the building blocks of the entire song, It’s what drives the story and intention. It include: The Key & Modes, Melody, Chord Progression, Tempo, Time signature, Rhythm, etc.

5. Instrumentation
These are the sounds that drive the story

6. Arrangement
It is the stage of putting all the different knowledge and elements together to form one coherent (unified whole) story. 

7. Mixing & Mastering
This is where we modifying the sound quality of each sound and how they sound when played together, and finally adjusting the quality and dynamic range of the entire mix.

The Project is expected to end by Monday, 01 June 2026

OCRIN is our first step at aligning with our mission to bring meaning back to Music as an Art. Read More about that here.

We're also attempting a new release model. We’re adopting the Direct to Consumer Model, where we first market & sell music as a product directly to fans. Once sales have been exhausted, then only can we release the tracks onto Streaming Platforms.

We're excited to see what our artists can do in this challenge, as opportunity to push the boundaries and try something new and unique. Let our music take you for a journey, telling a story, one to remember for years to come.
